The first works of the Vakfıkebir Association were initiated by the late Hasan AKYOL in the 1970s in order to bring the people of Vakfıkebir living in Istanbul together and to ensure their social and cultural unity. Then, Vakıfkebir Culture and Solidarity Association was established in Aksaray district in 1987 under the chairmanship of İsmet SAYIN and became operational.
The chairmanship of the association was Prof. Dr. Tuncer ÇELİK and Hafit SARAL made it. Then, our association, Dr. Under the management of Ali Rıza BİRİNCİOĞLU, we moved the headquarters of the association to the Karagümrük district and then to the place it was purchased in the Gaziosmanpaşa district. Dr. During the presidency of Sezai PAMUK and Atty. Our association continued its activities in this center in the early years of Yahya YEŞİLOĞLU. After purchasing the new place on Atatürk Boulevard in Fatih Aksaray district in 2011, we moved the headquarters of our association to its current address. As of today, we have 2 real estate properties on behalf of the association, one in Gaziosmanpaşa and the other in Fatih.
At our association, which held its 13th Ordinary Congress on December 27, 2015, Attorney Yahya YEŞİLOĞLU was the chairman after 10 years. He transferred it to Bedrettin İSKENDER. Betrettin İSKENDER has been re-elected as the chairman in the congresses held in 2018 and 2021 since this date and continues his current duty.
